A CT (Computed Tomography) scan, also known as a CAT scan, is a medical imaging procedure that utilizes computer-processed combinations of multiple X-ray measurements taken from different angles to produce cross-sectional images of specific areas of a scanned object, allowing the user to see inside the object without cutting. This technology has revolutionized the field of medicine by providing detailed images of the body’s internal structures, leading to more accurate diagnoses and better patient care.
The process of a CT scan begins with the patient lying down on a motorized table that slides into a large, donut-shaped machine called a gantry. This gantry houses an X-ray tube that rotates around the patient, taking multiple X-ray images from different angles.
