Hepatic Adenoma


These are benign hepatic tumours that are associated with spontaneous haemorrhage.


Associated with :

  1. Contraceptive use
  2. Anabolic steroids
  3. Glycogen storage diseases
  4. Obesity
  5. Diabetes


Types

  1. Inflammatory (most common)
  2. A/W obesity and oral contraceptive use
  3. Risk of haemorrhage and malignant transformation
  4. HNF-1 α mutated (2nd most common)
  • A/W oral contraceptive use
  1. β-catenin–mutated hepatocellular adenoma (least common)
  2. A/W Anabolic steroid use/ glycogen storage disease<...
